I enjoyed watching the first 1/3 A LOT, enjoyed the second 1/3 moderately & I found the last 1/3 (before the one hour long ending) boring & predictable. The truly amazing acting performances are semi ruined by the script. There isn't any writer's creativity here. It's like they took the procedural story from "I Can Hear Your Voice" & they added the plot twist from Healer, but unlike in Healer they tried their best to ruin all the good that they've built, milking the stupid twist to the max. Others have mentioned that they could only finish watching the show, because of the interesting villain figure, well I did not find him interesting at all, by the time I reached the later episodes I only continued watching to see the inevitable happy ending. The procedural parts weren't interesting, I did not feel very engaged with any of the miscellaneous cases. The mental problems of the villain just made me yawn.

Despite all the negatives I'm still giving it a 7.5, because the acting performances were really spot on, the romance despite the retarded separation was quite awesome. The humor deserves some praise as well, I did spit out my tea that one time.. I liked the ending double episode too, liked it a lot in fact. It's nice that there was no triangle, I really hate triangles.
I Can Hear Your Voice & Healer are MUCH MUCH MUCH better than this one, but nonetheless this is still entertaining enough & I felt that it was mostly worth my time.

I just finished this drama, so here comes my review right after:

Story: The beginning was really intense and I felt really hooked to keep watching it. Although later on it had some episodes which in my opinion weren't necessary because they only made some moments longer and actually quite boring. I really had trouble to motivate myself to keep watching it which is quite sad and a bit disappointing because the start was so strong. Towards the end it got better again.

Acting/Cast: I like the cast, they are all very unique charaters with their ups and downs. The introduction was very nice, also the introduction of the culprit was very strong and I actually like the character a lot.

Music: The Music was okay, some parts were really well underlined with a soundtrack, I especially liked the piano parts, I will have to look up the song later xD

Rewatch Value: As I mentioned before - the story got a bit loooong and slow and I almost couldn't bring myself to finish the drama, so I probably wouldn't watch it again.

Overall: Overall I liked the drama despise my own opinions above. It's a nice drama to watch on the side and not too complicated to understand.

Let me start off by saying that of you want lots of feels, this is the show you could watch just for the fluff and cheesy scenes again and again. As I write this review I remember how fun it was to watch it every time a new episode airs. I could feel curiosity and anticipation while waiting for new episodes. There are some scenes that are kind of a filler only. Overall everything else is great. The actors, the cinematography, the soundtrack; it will give you tingly feelings. Can I also say that Ji Wook is one of my top 5 male kdrama characters? He doesn't force anyone to do something if he/she isn't comfortable with it. (That's probably the best I can give without spoiling too much)

this could've been ten times more amazing. this drama had so much more potential. there are some big flaws and some minor flaws, and if these stupid things weren't even there, this would've been mind-blowing goodness. it would've been astounding and amazing and every thing else that counts as good stuff. but the biggest, biggest problem in the drama was its pacing and it's length, and judging from other reviews i've read of this drama, many other viewers would agree with me.

this was too slow-paced, and it was dragged out way too long. instead of making 40 episodes, even 32 episodes would've been better, with the shortened version of 16 running an hour long each. things went much too slow, and their portrayal of the lawyers and prosecuters had so much more potential too, and in certain scenes they were great (ji chang wook roasting the shit out of hyeong jyeong soo or the legendary criminal in court is literally to die for) until they weren't anymore. most of the drama was supposed to be about bong soo, and i remember being so happy watching the first episode and knowing it was going to be one hell of a ride, but you get to the last ten episodes, and everything's about no ji wook, no ji wook, no ji wook. don't get me wrong, i want my fill on ji chang wook just as much as any other fan, but the drama and plotline were supposed to be mostly centered around bong soo and her backstory, and in the end, we barely knew anything about her anymore. it was . . . the length of it ruined everything, and in it, a lot of important things got lost in it too. what happened to that man who could sometimes predict the future and predicted that two people in that room would die? he died. who else died? i don't think mr. bang died and came back to life.

it wasn't as if the entire drama was dull and lackluster. in fact, there were several scenes that almost rekindled the spark i felt at the first episode, and those scenes i found in episodes 38, 39, and 40 actually, though they were spread out towards several of the other episodes. but agh, the length of it bothered me so much. if it was paced faster, this could've been hella better, man. and speaking of rekindling sparks, let's talk bong soo and ji chang wook. damn, i hate it when the woman chases after the man and i felt embarrassed on bong soo's behalf when she literally dragged him after her, but it was still comical. but that aside, their romance. what happened? the length of the drama happened. i come back to the length every single time. their spark kindled, died out and you could barely see it (like did they even care about eachother anymore?) and then when it came again, it was literally just a small, tiny piece. it was . . . if the drama had fewer episodes, their romance could've been portrayed in its full beauty, because aside from the matter of the kindling on and off, when they were in the feels, they sure as hell were in the feels and put you in the feels too.

and the last and most important aspect of this drama: i loved jyeong hyeong soo up until we found out about his involvement in the rape. if there was one big twist, ji wook framing him as one of the rapists was definitely one of them. i got so attached to their killing treasure (well he did attempt to kill mr. bang but i tried to see him in the good light, he portrayed an amazing villain) and up until the part we find he was a loSER WHO SAT BACK AND WATCHED THE RAPE HAPPENED KILLED EVERY SINGLE LAST ONE OF MY VIBES. FOR HIM. so up until we find out that part, i loved that guy. the criminal part of the plotline was amazingly delivered though, and if it weren't for the pacing, it would've gone better. every bad things comes down to the pacing, period.

i'm not done yet. eun hyeok was an adorable treasure, and speaking of him, what really happened? did they actually cheat? did they not cheat? nara asks him whether he ever told ji wook the "truth" and that makes me wonder whether they actually slept together or just almost slept together. that got lost in the plot too, and i didn't see proper chemistry between her and eun hyeok. nara's character, on the other hand, was a sulking, brooding, pitiful, pathetic woman who. could've. been. portrayed. so. much. better. you see her in the first scene kicking butt, and you love her, and then you see her demanding ji wook take her back and being pitiful when he says no, and it makes you wonder what the hell happened to the wonderfully badass character we saw the first time. they did horribly on nara's character. she remained pitiful and pathetic through and through, with no meaning or actual backstory to support her at all. so much for the badass title of lawyer. we never even got to see her successfully win a trial either, and when she pursues anything because of the team, she's told off by her manager (is he her manager?) about what crap she is and she should just leave. her and the other girl (the one who helped bong's ex cheat on her) could've had better character development and intensity, but both were crappily done from somewhere in the beginning.

Honestly this is one of my favorite dramas. The plot was good, I liked the whole law background, but it bothered me the constant time-jumps during the first episode. The cast is great, the villain did a good job, and the side characters were interesting. It has a good rewatch value, one of the main problems of the show is the duration. 16/32 episodes is actually the perfect duration and it felt like the producers of the show were a bit lost with what to do in the last episode. Noh Ji Wook and Eun Bong Hee are one of my favorite drama couples, the chemistry was great, it was mature enough to have decent kisses, but their return as a couple at the end was lame, they provided many good scenes when they weren't oficially together and when they're finally in peace the scenes were boring, but that was only in the last two episodes, so I would say it's really worth it to watch. They're the perfect example of "She fell first but he fell harder"

I really liked Suspicious Partner! The characters were all likable and the plot was very interesting to watch unfold. I really enjoyed the dynamics between Ji Chang Wook's character and the female MC, especially when they didn't get along so well. Ji Chang Wook is a very talented actor and I really appreciate how well he can capture and portray a variety of characters. The ending was great and all loose ends were tied up very well and satisfyingly. The only reason why there's half a star shaved off my rating is because there was a slightly awkward tone/atmosphere that you could barely notice, which threw me off occasionally - but not detrimentally because I still really enjoyed it! The grandfather was a hoot!

Horrible behaviors of characters, great potential of the story

Really, those characters are all I hate most in Asian drama series.

The secondary leads assholes who should basically suffer for their horrible deeds through the whole show find both love, redemption and even rebuild friendship + get a new friend instead. It's disgusting. Totally disgusting. The secondary FL and ML should be kicked in balls/crotch every single time they're on screen but no. Both the main FL and the main ML who has a full right to kick them forgive their treason instead, the FL becomes their friend even though they're just lowly creatures and she also came through the same treason as the ML so she should despise the secondary leads equally as him. I can't accept such stuff. It's stupid, disgusting, not realistic, not worth any praise - it's even bad to show such examples to other people because it teachers wrong things. They do not deserve any redemption, they should be paying for what they've done and both the ML and FL should proudly say F***K OFF to them smiling and walking away hand in hand for secondary leads to only suffer. Here - no, just the opposite, stupid, worthless shit in this dram. It's just stupid, serves nothing, just follows those pseudo-dramatic patterns of any typical drama. The worst work from ML actor - Healer and K2 were his great roles, this is total garbage.

Another problem - the main leads themselves. They're worst of worst, which is surprising because this guy is capable of playing characters in action series who actually do what they're supposed to do (mentioned Healer and K2). Here - no, nothing like that happens - he's just a worthless piece of shit. He loves her but says he does not (why the hell, what is the reason for that, why would anyone want to see it?). What the hell is that. It's also stupid and disgusting. She suffers, he sees it but does nothing. When important things need to be said, a phone rangs. A normal person would turn it off or tell the other person to f***ing forget the phone or not important meeting and listen and stay here now because what's here is important. But no. People walk off at most important moments, most important things remain untold and both the characters behave like total, worthless idiot emo-kids. It's totally the same for a FL.

The worst thing is that they get guts in totally unreasonable situations. The ML scolds her, criticizes her and can stand strong against anyone but when the crucial, most important moment comes, the always weak FL finds some magical strength to tell him to do not get involved in her problems. He behaves like an idiot, can't say anything while he should do the thing he always does and just respond: no - I will get involved and I will not listen to your bullshit right now so stop with that and listen. Nothing like that happens. It's so frustrating watching this drama, it's really like torturing yoruself when the beginning promised such a great potential.

I really hate watching this. The story has a great promise, as I said, it may have been great but it turned out the worst typcial shit of korean dramas. The ML could be strong, take care of the woman, appear when he has to appear and just be a normal guy but no. He had all this potential and it all has ended after the best scene in 2nd or 3rd episode when he protects the truth and justice sacrificing his career but then - he becomes a worthless shit no one normal would like to watch - only some romantic teenager idiots who like such emo shit.

It's really horrible.

Great legal drama with romance and a serial killer

9.5/10 is my rating. This is a 2017 South Korean television drama spanning 40 episodes (~30 minutes). Ji-wook (Chang-wook) male lead. The lead female character is Eun Bong-Hee (Nam Ji-hyun)

About Noh Ji-wook, a prosecutor, and Eun Bong-hee , a prosecutor trainee, and how they work together on a mysterious case involving a sly psychopath murderer They find out how deeply connected they are by their past.

Spoiler ? The standard description really does not do credit to this story. There is a serial killer who taunts the two main characters throughout the entire show. The female lead is framed for a murder she did not commit and it basically destroys her life. There is sizzling chemistry between her and the male lead. Lots of romance and it is filled with suspense. This is now one of my favorites.

This is one of those shows that I didn't feel too enthusiastic to watch after reading the synopsis, but I'm glad I did. The first episode starts like a silly romcom, guy meets girl, they have a misunderstanding and an embarrassing situation ensues. By a weird twist of fate they end up at the same place, and 2PM's Chanseong is an asshole to the girl so guy saves girl. Girl keeps embarrassing herself and ... what? Spends the night at his place lol .This is all typical romcom until the female lead, Bonghee, gets charged with murdering 2PM's Chanseong.

I can't emphasize enough how this is actually a good show, the events that quickly unfold in the first episodes will keep you glued to the screen, and Ji Chanwook and Nam Jihyun play their characters beautifully. In no moment I find Bonghee annoying, even though her personality is strong and loud, and in no moment Jiwook's quirkiness goes away or disappoints.

I was surprised to find interesting the serial murder part of the story, some shows fail to do so and with 40 episodes following the same guy, you would think it would get tiring. The drama gets slow at points, but the pace picks up and it isn't disappointing at all.

The love story between the two is quite meaningful because it spans over years and it grows and evolves. From the moment she realizes she's fallen for him, then follows him from afar after he tells her to stay away, to when she ponders whether she is in love or if it has become an obsession and decides to quit. I love the moment she tells herself it is unhealthy and unwanted and cries on her couch, wondering why she is in so much pain when they were never anything.

I love how he deals with his love from the past and this doesn't become an obstacle between them, but rather what stops him are his reservations to start something. How he knows he is being a coward but says he was afraid he wouldn't be good enough. All those feelings are very real and I can relate to them, and specially as both have been hurt in the past, how they eventually find support and love in each other is really uplifting.

Also this drama doesn't deal with love in a shy way (like is common to see in korean dramas), when they are both ready, they jump in each other's arms. It is a very nice relationship to see grow and both actors do a splendid job making it believable.

The side characters are funny but the most memorable is Ji Eunhyuk, No Jiwook's childhood friend who betrayed him in the past. From his high IQ gags, to his awkward laughter, then to his melancholic real face and his yearning to gain his good old friend back. It is truly moving to see.

The law side of the story isn't that important or realistic, which was a let down as I particularly enjoy legal dramas, but the show has enough of other good points to make up for that.

LONG REVIEW

Now that I have watched the whole drama (because of  Ji Chang Wook, let’s be honest) I understand the complaints. I’ll start with the good, move to the bad, and finish with the ugly.

The Good : When I started watching the show, I expected mainly comedy, based on the 1st episode (didn’t remember the synopsis). While it was fun to watch, it dealt with dark issues, and revealed a lot about man’s fragility and his natural tendency to be selfish and do evil, including when it comes to love. As predictable as the romance was, the criminal cases weren’t. I thought that making a drama about serious murder cases so digestible was not an easy task, and very well done. I also appreciated the fact that the female lead was not as gorgeous as the male lead. It's usually the other way around. She was not Ms Perfect, but just an everyday girl, and very opiniated. Ji Wook was generous and transparent, in real life he would make an awesome partner.

The bad (actors) : Very few actors can mix deep emotions with comedy. Ji Chang Wook can do it easy, but Nam Ji Hyun is not as good. She’s awesome to make you laugh, but when it comes to moving you to tears or making you angry, I couldn’t take her seriously. She’s not good at conveying deep emotions. She can’t cry to save her life. Well, at least Ji Chang Wook and Dong Ha (who was terrific) made up for her average skills.

The ugly (plot) : Some things were too unrealistic. Now I know this is entertainment but this is not a fantasy or sci-fi drama, this is a legal one. No woman in her right mind would move in where Bong Hee lived so fast. There's more to say but then I would have to spoil a lot. As for the characters, Yoo Jung was a pretty blend and irrelevant one. Self-centered, childish, unable to self-reflect. I never liked the situation between Eun Hyuk and Yoo Jung, and until the end I never liked those two.

In conclusion I enjoyed the drama at first but it went south by the 30th episode, now I get why it gets so much bad rap. It was too long (32 episodes of 30 minutes would have been more than enough), some circumstances were too unrealistic and the ending was beyond lackluster. Where were the fireworks ??? Way to frustrate an audience after 40 freaking episodes!!!!

Though I can kind of understand the mixed reviews, I thought this was fun and romantic and think it's defintiely worth checking out. It starts off really strong with loads of romance and cuteness which fizzles somewhat with darker plot complications as the story progressed, but ultimately goes back to being cute. I feel like I've watched a few dramas recently that pair the cute romantic comedy and dark crime genres together. It seems like an difficult pairing to pull off, but this drama manages to do it adequately. So depending on how charismatic you find the main couple or how much you enjoy the crime story / villain you may really enjoy this.

PROS: Ji Chang Wook is my favorite actor since I watched him in Healer so I admit that makes me rate this drama higher than I might if he wasn't in it - maybe half a point higher. I was really happy to just watch him in something where he just plays a normal guy. For me this was enough to keep me entertained. I also liked Bong Hee and thought they had good chemistry together.

The supporting characters were cute and likable. I enjoyed the funny bickering of attorneys at the office. Their office meetings were always funny. I also thought the bickering moms storyline was funny. The mean female attorney character grew on me and became one of the more amusing side characters.

CONS: It doesn't finish as strongly as it started and to me a it drags a little in the middle when the crime storyline takes more prominence. The actor who plays the villain gets a lot of screen time and does a good job. But I just wasn't as invested in this part of the story. The plot was entertaining enough to keep my attention though. Certain plot points could have been amped up for more impact. And certain plot points are introduced that added complications but could have been done without. The second leads could have been given a little more to do. And the old friendship between 2 male leads could have been played up a little more. I would have liked to see more of them together.

That sounds like a lot of cons, but it is mostly picking at the plot. Overall, I thought this was a really fun and cute drama to watch and looked forward to each episode.
