The story itself was interesting. I don't know any of the cast and decided to watch it after I read the summary. "A romance story between a 500 year old superhuman and a B-list actress". The series is an adaptation of a popular Chinese novel by Shui Qianmo. And it does baffle me when others compare it with MLFAS and said it was inspired by it. The only similarities that I've known of, again I only watch the first episode of MLAS, was that both male lead have super power. My Amazing Boyfriend wasn't a fantasy drama because both main lead are human; only the male lead's genetic was altered and thus making him immortal. And because he can control certain elements, he have the power of speed, strength, super hearing and floating/flying.
For a debut, Kim Tae Hwan did a good job. He didn't portray much emotion because his character was mostly aloof but, when he did show them, it was subtle and yet, as a viewer, I saw the change. Janice Wu however, did a brilliant job portraying her character. She managed not to make it annoying or else, I've drop it after the first episode like I did with MLFAS. The female lead relationship with everyone around her was the highlight of the show. There were scenes where she was whiny and slightly annoying but, Janice Wu managed to salvage it by making the female lead cute and strong with her resolve. I particularly like when the female lead declared that she would take all responsibility towards the male lead and somehow she managed to do in her way. Apart from both leads, the supporting cast also did well in their role especially Yang Aro as Feng Dong Dong.
The opening and closing soundtrack suit the drama but, to be honest, I usually skipped it.
Well, I did mentioned this was my second time watching it. Of course, I wasn't sitting on edge anymore after knowing who was the villain. But, the rewatch value was there.
Overall, I truly like it and will wait for the second season. There wasn't much left in the book unless the author added new chapter to it.

Plot
The plot is simple yet interesting. As I have never watched You who came from the Star, I don’t know which one is better but this Chinese version is totally satisfying. Though the ending seems a little rushed and there should be more love scenes between the leads, maybe all of this is for season 2.
Cast
Janice Wu carried the whole drama, some people don’t like her but in my eyes her acting is funny, and it is all her acting that breathlessly took me to the end.As for the male lead, his acting is okay but not very impressive either. It would be perfect with a Chinese actor though.
Music
The opening soundtrack is not bad and other songs are good as well.
Rewatch value
I would definitely watch it again.
As I became a fan of Janice wu, it is pretty hard for me to accept Yu Esther as Xiao Zhi immediately. I don’t understand why they changed the casts for season 2. But I am pretty sure that season 1 is totally impressive and it is worth watching.

Fun/funny
Really enjoyed it. Not exactly what I expected but a lot of fun for what it was. It took a little while to get used to the FL acting but once I did I had a lot of fun.………………

To be honest to enjoy it I skip some of the storyline, I find I don't really care much what's going on on the side of the bad guy. I'm in this drama for the romcom and I don't mind a lil heartache if that's what's necessary. That's why the first 2/3 of the drama is a must watch for the fun the romance and her falling in love with him. Fast forward necessary for the last third of the drama if you are like me.
Acting: 10/10 for Janice Wu Qian;6/10 for Kim Tae Hwan;8/10 for supporting casts
Janice quite like her character in My Sunshine was so lively and unapologetic, interesting juxtaposition against tae hwan as the cold blood xue monster
Romance: fluffy ttypes with squabbles, comedic moments, sweet moments and nice skinship lol quite a bit of good kiss scenes. I find it amazing that they can generate the chemistry despite not speaking each other's language as tae hwan is being dubbed (side note I saw interviews where janice speaks to him in English and he could comprehend it enough)
I wont spoil it but i have to say i wish it was wrapped up better in ep 28... could have been best comedic romantic drama until they spoil it with that ending
I've recently click and watch scenes that I love. So needless to say Rewatch value is high for selected scenes for me
Now there's buzz there would be a second season.. We shall see. Personally I thk Amazing boyfriend is a must watch C drama for 2016

For the Good, For the Bad
I tend to watch dramas that are more modern romances but the concept of this supernatural romance and it's rating on Viki made me give it a shot. For the Good, For the Bad!
For the Good:
- This supernatural concept fit very well for a romantic drama. The method he used to share his blood to the FL gave us a lot of laughs and cuteness. It was a great way for the writers to fit in random bits of romance and sometimes hilarious encounters.
- I liked the antagonist and his "origin" story which made me believed his motivation for being so evil. It didn't feel random or far-fetched. It was plausible and made sense. Honestly, even if he didn't have the backstory he had and only knew of the ML's abilities that may have been enough to make him "evil" but they added a layer his story making his motivation even more convincing.
- The 2nd ML. That's it. That's all I'm really going to say. I just found him lovely.
For the Bad:
- The acting was rough. I'm mostly referring to the 2 leads. I loved the ML and luckily his awkwardness fit with his character so it was easier to overlook but I didn't like his acting as much as the 2nd ML who was (again) lovely.
- I found the FL to be incredibly annoying at times. Everytime she cried I wanted to rip my ears off. Luckily I found her to have other redeeming qualities so I kept watching but she definitely got on my nerves a few times.
Despite there being some pretty slow parts at times and my annoyance with the FL, it was an interesting enough concept and cast to keep me watching until the end.
Am I glad I watched it? Yes.
Would I re-watch? Unlikely.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why everyone loves the male lead. He was boring and his first impression was that he was doing some creepy Edward Cullen stuff. Honestly I'm just tired of the "strong and silent" male trope, in general. It got really frustrating to have to watch him say stupid and hurtful things to TJZ over and over again, and she STILL chased after him. I liked the second male character, the police officer, a lot better.
