Whilst The Smile Has Left Your Eyes is only four episodes in, I wanted to share this recommendation because I genuinely am getting so many reminders of Hello Monster (also called I Remember You) whilst watching this. I shall now list some similarities as well as differences without spoiling either the dramas.

SIMILARITIES
• Seo In Guk plays the main lead in both dramas
• They both have a dark undertone and lots of mystery
• Circled around police investigations and wrongful accusations
• Brilliant and talented cast
• Crimes which are tangled up with the main leads and their lives
• Both of Seo In Guk's characters have that sort of 'dark aura of mystery' but are soft babies on the inside whom we all must protect <333

DIFFERENCES
• The Smile Has Left Your Eyes clearly involves romance into its plot whilst you see this much less in Hello Monster. There is a bit of romance in the latter drama but it does not tangle into the plot quite like the former.
• The female leads are completely different in personality and careers.
• Hello Monster's plot is more heavily based on crimes and the police. Whilst this is seen in The Smile Has Left Your Eyes it is not as prominent.

Both are magnificent dramas which I both thoroughly enjoyed. I have high hopes for the rest of The Smile Has Left Your Eyes and once I have finished it, I will edit this post with my preference and reasoning (which will have both a spoiler and spoiler-free version).

Although one is Korean and the other is Chinese, both of are worth watching. Both drams deal with crime but with hints of romance and the lead characters have difficult pasts.

The mysteries in both plot storys, it makes you question so many things wrong with our society today. Corruption, why we murder.. The plots are 'somewhat' similar in terms of the genre and a bit of the character buildup but totally different in someway. Both dramas are a must watch, and will definitely not fail to please or surprise you.

Both feature the psychological aspect of solving and commiting crimes.
Both main antagonists are seriel killer.
The story and plot are really different though, so it's still refreshing to watch :)

Both dramas have the same investigator and culprit in a cat and mouse chase. It gives that similar vibe for me.

The only difference is that Tunnel has a time travel element but Hello Monster does not, but deals with something in the past as well, but no time slip to complicate it than it already is.

Both drama's talks about how a serial killing crime connects two people. The action in both makes the story very interesting to watch. Honestly though, who wouldn't watch hot couples fighting crimes

From the same writer, the balance of romance/comedy and thriller is really good. And the criminals are very interesting in both of those dramas.

Both dramas have incredibly intelligent psychopathic serial killers (especially Gap Dong).
If you enjoy those kind of stories you will definitely like both of these dramas.
While Hello Monster has a really complex story with incredibly diverse characters, Gap Dong's story is way darker and focuses more on the nature and the perspective of the serial killer and his actions.

-----(minor spoilers following)-----

In my opinion the actors for Hello Monster were all incredibly well cast which helped to improve the story and made it easier to portray the characters. In contrary for Gap Dong Lee Joon did an amazing job on portraying a coldhearted psychopathic killer, while in my opinion the other main roles were poorly cast/ badly portrayed, which didn't really help the storyline...

Both feature sexy psychopaths. Bad Guys has Park Hae Jin. I Remember You has Park Bo Gum. While there is a romance subplot in IRY, in my opinion, there was zero chemistry. The real draw for both dramas is the bromance, the team comraderie in BG is great. And, the real chemistry in IRY is between Seo In Guk and Park Bo Gum. Highly recommend both.

Both the main leads are related to their past through an event of tragedy. The theme of unraveling the villain in Hello Monster is more on detective/police setting but in Lawless Lawyer it's more of trying to brace through the loopholes of the justice system. There is more action in the latter, and more psychological elements in the former.

They both explore the concept of whether "psychopaths" are born or made.

About sibling bonds and never giving up, both dramas try to explore the more darker side of the human nature. Circle is heavy on the scifi with an array of never ending plot twists while I remember you has a bit of the more typical crime/mystery flare within the rom-com genre, though with its own fair share of twists and turns.
