That's exactly why you shouldn't trust teachers

Ok so first to say: I HAVEN'T read the manga and HAVEN'T watched the japanese drama of Liar Game yet, so I can't compare.
That first scene in the lecture hall reminded me of a different kdrama, but I just can't remember which one... however, I somehow really like that Professor. I assume tat his vharacter is going to be fascinating to me as he is a human lie detector! I hope they reveal somewhere how exactly he can see whether a person is lying or not because that would really interest me! ;)
And OMG that damn teaher!!! I KNEW something like this would happen, it would have been too easy for Da Jung if he were to give her his money. That is EXACTLY why you SHOULDN'T TRUST TEACHERS!!
However, I am really curious to see what that Professor will do to help Da Jeong if he is going to help her.
Looking forward to continuing! :D

Mixed feeings

I'm just not convinced. I found the first episode slow and boring, the thrill is missing. I don't insist this drama to be an exact copy of the manga but I expected it to be more "compact" like the Japanese version was. They got straight to the business and action. Here it's more like blah blah, blah blah and blah blah. No suspense at all. Feels Korean no doubt. Plus there is that sappy story abut the father who escaped with the debt. I know in the maga the father was terminally ill but he wasn't mentioned that much. Besides, it seems like there will be some drama about love and I don't think that's part of Liar Game at all. Fingers crossed they keep the love thing on the background.

I really don't understand why they had to make that live show? It complicates everything and makes the whole thing messy. I know this can't just be realistic but other versions succeeded in that better, they felt somehow more believable. That's why I wish Korean version was more dynamic, faster, simpler, shorter scenes, like a comic book.

At least they should have somehow foreshadowed the Liar Game live show before just exploding it on the viewer. Anyway, I liked it simple like the first volume of the manga. It explained the tactic and flow of the game really well and introduced the characters in simple yet engaging way. Now I don't really care about the characters, there is nothing interesting about them. Especially Woo Jin, they ruined his character for me by introducing him first and taking all mystery away. Plus the darkness of the story is missing.

The cast seems ok though, Shin Sung Rock being the best of them and shining the brightest. Do Young sparked the most interest with me.

But yeah, what I expected was less talking and moping around and more plotting.

Liar Game - Episode 1

When watching the first episode, you have to objective. This isn't like the Japanese version or the manga, and at first it irked me to my core... But, after completing the first episode I feel that it has a lot of potential to be a brilliant take on the original.
Now putting the original aside, the acting in the drama has been good so far (the only thing I can complain about is not casting Shin Sung Rok as Akiyama's character). The overall feel of the show is refreshing, it feels different to the number of dramas coming out now, it's more thrilling and keep you on the edge of your seat (and thank god it's not a detective/murder thriller). The show's concept matches the feel of the manga quite well, so it definitely has a chance of matching the success of the original Japanese version.
All that aside, this show still isn't the Liar Game I had been expecting. Nevertheless, the story still managed to grab me and keep me entertained, so I am looking forward to what this version can bring forth to the already exceptional Liar Game series.
