Descendant of The Sun adalah sebuah drama yang menggambarkan betapa sulitnya jika pasangan kita adalah seorang Tentara. Belum lagi tentara yang pangkatnya khusus, seorang kapten, dan berada di pasukan khusus sehingga mereka benar-benar menjadi garda depan untuk segala situasi paling bahaya yang mengancam warga-warganya.

Jika pasanganmu adalah seorang yang mengabdi pada bangsa, bisakah kamu menahan rasa kesepian ditinggal tanpa kepastian apakah ia akan kembali dalam keadaan sehat atau kemungkinan bahwa ia akan pergi begitu saja kapanpun?

Ketakutan inilah yang coba diintepretasikan oleh Song Hye Kyo melalui perannya sebagai Kang Mo Yeon, seorang dokter yang tidak sengaja jatuh cinta pada seorang pria yang ternyata memiliki profesi sebagai tentara dengan banyak rahasia yang dimilikinya.

Tentara itu adalah Yoo Si Jin, yang diperankan oleh Song Joong Ki.

Pertemuan kedua tokoh ini sebenarnya merupakan pertemuan yang klasik, bagaikan sebuah takdir, keduanya langsung saling tertarik setelah pertemuan pertama mereka. Karena ketertarikan mereka itulah, keduanya mulai mengatur rencana untuk bisa berkencan layaknya orang-orang pacaran pada umumnya. Sayangnya, pekerjaan Si Jin membuatnya sering meninggalkan Mo Yeon di tengah-tengah kencan mereka. Dan Mo Yeon tidak mendapat penjelasan apa-apa mengenai alasan yang membuat Si Jin meninggalkannya karena itu adalah rahasia dari pekerjaannya. Mengetahui bahwa ketertarikan mereka saja tidak cukup untuk membuat hubungan keduanya berlangsung lama, Mo Yeon memutuskan untuk segera mengakhiri hubungan mereka yang bahkan belum dimulai.

Si Jin yang memahami ketakutan Mo Yeonpun menghormati keputusan wanita itu dan mereka berdua akhirnya memilih untuk berpisah sebelum perasaan mereka menjadi semakin dalam.

8 Bulan Berlalu, Si Jin dan Mo Yeon sudah kembali ke kehidupan mereka masing-masing.
Tapi sepertinya takdir belum menyerah untuk mempertemukan mereka, pekerjaan Mo Yeon sebagai dokter membawanya untuk kembali bertemu Si Jin dimana Si Jin serta timnya bertugas menjadi tim khusus untuk melindungi tim medis yang diketuai oleh Mo Yeon. Karena kali ini lingkup pekerjaan mereka saling bersinggungan, Mo Yeon mulai mengetahui pekerjaan seperti apa yang dilakukan Si Jin selama ini. Dan meskipun Mo yeon terus berusaha menjauh demi melindungi perasaannya, tetapi ia tidak bisa menghentikan dirinya untuk terus berusaha disisi Si Jin yang selalu berada di ambang kematian.

Sejujurnya, waktu menonton drama ini aku tidak berekspektasi akan menyukai keseluruhan ceritanya. Mengingat sebelumnya aku sudah mencoba berkali-kali menonton drama ini dan di waktu yang sama selalu gagal, mungkin memang buka tipe drama kesukaanku. Alasanku menonton sejujurnya karena ost yang tiba-tiba sering muncul di fyp tiktok hehe, dan akhirnya aku menonton karena penasaran sama second couple dicerita ini.

Jadi di awal episode banyak yang aku cepet-cepetin, sampai di episode dua atau tiga, aku terhipnotis sama kedua tokoh utamanya.

Sebelum menonton, entah kenapa aku menyakinkan diri sendiri bahwa kecil kemungkinan aku akan suka sama drama ini. Aku takut kecewa karena drama ini banyak menonjolkan visual dari para aktornya. Awalnya, sampai aku menonton ke bagian turning point pertama yang ditunjukkan untuk memutuskan bahwa drama ini sangat worth untuk ditonton.

Ada yang terkesan klise di awal cerita, tapi itu hanya sepenggal opening untuk membangun emosi agar tidak mendadak. Dikarenakan penceritaan dramanya maju jadi memang opening yang agak klise untuk menunjukkan sejauh apa mereka saling jatuh cinta kurasa cukup penting untuk pada akhirnya memiliki arti yang lebih besar ketika dimunculkan dalam cerita utamanya.

Ketika sudah masuk ke inti cerita, yah, aku tidak bisa berhenti untuk mengikuti sampai akhir. Emosinya dibangun dengan sangat tepat, dan tidak berlebihan. Selain itu tokoh-tokohnya benar-benar menunjukkan akting yang sangat matang.

Must watch

It's jus luv...I jus wanted that this drama won't end. The ML and the FL compliment each other so we'll. Their coordination, acting, chemistry is do good. Also the luv story of second lead is to good. Every concept is expressed so nicely. This is going to be on my top list among all the Korean dramas I have watched.
The relationship between a soldier and a civilian is shown so wonderfully that you can literally feel the happiness, the pain, the excitement, the love, the separation, the parting they go through.

Even the other characters are interesting, every character has their own story and views.


Do watch. Must watch.

Best drama with proper profession

This show is phenomenal! It was a perfect balance of action, thriller, romance, comedy, you name it...

I like Yoon Myeong-joo and Seo Dae-young storyline more than the main leads....they are so mature, understanding, patiently waiting for each other,they are simply flawless❤..

there are lots of funny scenes like when Kang Mo-yeon walks away after playing music and Yoo Shi-Jin comes and everybody heard her recording???... also when Kang Mo-yeon received the gift package and Yoon Myeong-joo,Seo Dae-young and Yoo Shi-jin all three came running to her, oh my god that scene is really hilarious???? also the soldiers morning merch?? there is also fun bromance that you can say they are partners for crime?.
There is also an another one when Kang Mo-yeon came to the dessert on shi-jin's memorial day to leave the pebble and suddenly heard his deep voice( big boss transmitting...) oh it's given me goosebumps????... This is the best scene ever???...

All the actors carried their roles perfectly (including supporting). With a fantastic military background & a fabulous display of emotions, values & relationships.... this series really keeps you exciting throughout all the episodes, from start to end while pulling out various emotions from you & making you eager to look forward to see 'what's next?'. It was a whole package of comedy, romance, and action.... finally happy & sweet ending makes this series emotionally satisfying???.....

I'm not saying in this drama everything was special but once you start to watch it you can't stop to continue. Th ending was so unpredictable to the point of making me feel at uneasy every time I watched the episodde they didn't left me any coiche other than praying for the happy ending because when i was a drama and got affectionated to the couple I want the hapy ending and also here the ending wasn't that bad no no no it was perfect I think but a lot of people complained about it but I can't understand why. The scenery's, music where really beatiful I mean every time I listen to the OST of this series I don't know why but get happy for no reason may be because I had more good memories of this drama than the negative sides

Absolutely perfect

This drama is definitely one of our favorites from now on! The story is great, this mix between the military world and the medical world is very interesting, humor and emotion are present throughout, the sets are sublime, the setting and the production are perfect and what to say about the actors..Absolutely perfect !!
One of the few series where the viewer's interest is continually stimulated and where there are no dead spots.
We loved the romantic relationship of the two supporting characters, it was so touching and heartbreaking, well done to the cast. We enjoy seeing Kim Ji-Won in a role other than the one she had in The Heirs, a role that reveals her acting talents!
The complicity and the alchemy of the second leads burst the screen..
We liked the fact that they have so much stage and that they are not just in the background. The OST, just sublime, that We keep listening to in a loop.

A little bit of romance, comedy, military, hospital, bromance and drama. Some people did not like it but for me it entertained me allot. I like how they don't show the cliff hanger on the end of an episode but instead surprises you in the next episode. Of course, there are some scenes that are blah but it wasn't whole lot.
The second lead romance, you'd think was repetitive, but if you think about how a "soldier's honor" is... it does put allot of weight on the "right decision" and the angst of relationship.

The 16 episodes is just right and I am glad they did continue the story after the volunteering because it wasn't a long term deal so life has to go on.

Plus factor is that Song Joong Ki, is just eye candy and he looked really cool in his army uniform and doing all those action stuff (kinda like Healer).

I LOVED IT

After watching the last episode I wished there were more. It gives us a glimpse into military life in Korea and also a bit of the political side. The ML is one of my very favorites and he didn’t disappoint. FL was good but her whiny voice and screaming made me hit the mute button numerous times. Their chemistry is good so that made up for the whiny voice. There were two mainlove stories and the support male and female also had good chemistry. There are a couple of scenes that will make you teary. The scenery in the foreign country is beautiful. Overall it is easy watching and now Inhave to find something comparable which will be difficult. Did not give a ten because of background music which I found grating as well as FL whiny voice.

Okay, I was apprehensive about this one, because it is SUPER popular. And that means only 2 things: either it IS good, or it is utterly horrendous. It usually never is average...
Well, first time for everything.

Cast is not super attractive, nobody is really hot but they are likeable. Main couple consists of two professionals, a soldier going on "special missions" like rescuing hostages from Taliban, and a doctor doing everything from appearances at ER to complicated surgeries. There is a montage showing them both fighting on their job: him literally, her in surgery room. It looks good budget, standard drama, like from mainstream movies. Then there is a standard rom-com like I imagine is on shows like 'Grey's Anatomy' or 'E.R.'. Though I personally never watched the US shows I just mentioned, overall it oddly feels like this k-drama was made for american audience.

It's not bad, it's just... Meh.

I have absolutely no complaints or criticism to write about this drama, perhaps it would be better if I had... I just truly and honestly feel zero interest in seeing more episodes of it.

I watched this purely for Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo and boy, did they pay the price for the stunning visuals and spectacular backdrops. The cinematography and visuals were absolutely stunning. SJK ans SHK are beautiful to watch too of course. Definitely a big draw for most people to watch- beautiful to look at. With that said, the plot fell short for me in the last two episodes. Things did not add up and it kind of took the cheap way out but I didn't mind it too much since the other 14 episodes were good. There were some scenes that have you at the edge of your seat holding your breath for a couple of seconds (even though you already know what's going to happen). The music was great, the chemistry was just oozing off the screen. It's worth the hype but don't overthink some of the plot points. Definitely a rewatch for some of the cute cheesy lines the alpha male lead continues to deliver. You may become lactose intolerant after awhile though.
