Political Mystery Thriller Romance
The original expectations for me for the Korean Drama When the Phone Rings (2024) was that this Korean drama would be a Political Mystery Thriller of the criminal kind. However, a huge plot twist has made this drama a sensual killer of the pulsating kind. I have never seen a phone be used for a tool of sensuality. OMG. Male Lead Yoo Yeon Seok will forever be remembered for that incredible first kiss in episode one of Doctor Romantic and the brush of the fingers by a lady’s skirt as he played Bad Boy Gu Dong Mae in Mr Sunshine. He is doing it again in When the Phone Rings. Yoo Yeon Seok is the originator of his signature pulsating glance, the heart has to be forced to stay still.Yoo Yeon Seok costars with Cahe Soo Bin (I Am Not A Robot). Only two episodes in, When the Phone Rings is becoming a fan favorite already, garnering 8.7/10 on MDL. We will see if they can keep this up. 💌💌💌💌

were we watching the same show?
Ugh. I found this so mind-numbingly boring I dropped it at episode 12, after I had fast forwarded most of the plot from the 3rd episode on. I did give it my best shot. The leads were cute and had chemistry but the story was not interesting for me. The characters had no depth. I get this is a fluffy rom com, but in very successful ones, they give the characters more than one dimension. And dang, the FL was cooolllddd to do what she did. I can predict what happens at the end but I'll never know. I didn't care about any of the supporting characters.

This has me hooked with the first episode
I came across this series via a TikTok and it had me wanting more and I couldn’t stop … except I caught up and now must wait for the next episode.I love these characters and the episodes just give us more bread crumbs for the story.
I really really hope this all works out and it doesn’t loose its appeal after 3-5 episodes.
but I do have a good feeling about it.
the story follows a government official who comes from a very esteemed family. He is forced to marry into a media tycoon family.
he agrees but makes a couple of conditions for his new wife. she can’t ask for a divorce, especially during a election year and no one must know she is his wife. if she breaks any of these rules … she owes him 2 billon won.
The wife he agrees to marry has selective mutism. she works as a sign interpreter for a news agency.
one night her car is hacked and she os kidnapped. the kidnapped tells her husband, he doesn’t believe the kidnapped has his wife and tells him not to call again. if he does he better have killed her.
what comes next is a battle of cat and mouse …. it will have you hooked!!!

Better than expected!
I went into this expecting the worst. I had the impression that the acting and story was basically awful. And that the side couple was the only thing worth even considering watching for.And while i agree that the side couple does have the most convincing chemistry in general, I enjoyed a lot or even most of the scenes with the main characters. And I thought the "rich kid/body guard" dynamic mostly worked for me.
So if you, like me, have reached the bottom of the BL barrel, and you're considering giving this a shot. Then I think you should! (Just keep your expectations low.)

Crazy Girl or Karma?
It's greatly supernatural series i would tell. This series just not talking about what karma will do but mosly tell about how human can be crazy because their ego nor their selfishness. Every episode have different theme with amazing take, super genius who have this story because it's describe the truth that happened in the Society like madness, selfishness, double standard, crazy about wealth and power and beauty, loneliness, bullying, revenge & many more that making criminality. It's insane & gem serie at the same time and make it beautiful series. 10/10Esta resenha foi útil para você?
The Pairing we don't expect with awesome chemistry!!!!
Shen Yue and Lin Yi—they really do bring such an irresistible charm to their projects together! Their real-life friendship definitely shines through on-screen, making their chemistry even more natural and heart warming.Shen Yue’s long hair is a stunning look for her and it truly highlights her beauty in this drama. Her Count Your Lucky Stars wardrobe definitely gave her a more polished and dynamic vibe. Hopefully, her stylist gave her a fresh fashion makeover in future projects.
Smile Code is so rewatchable. Shen Yue and Lin Yi have such a unique ability to make us all root for their characters. I'm really hooked!

Listen...Cutsy and fun, but uggghhh Esther!
Babyyyyyyyy let me tell you upfront, that I am one of those people who can NOT, I repeat... CAN NOT with the very soul of my being, STAND Miss Esther's 'shu-shu' baby toddler voice. I CAN'T! She ruins what is my favorite genre. I wish we could bully and shame her to kid shows, so that she'd leave c-dramas alone since she won't drop her irritating, sometimes inconsistent, saccharine child's tone as a grown-arse woman!WHEW I got that out.
I went into venting that out in the beginning to watch this cute show for the mushrooms. I loved it and the storyline was fun. The show did honestly make me laugh once I managed to get beyond (muted) our FL. I've purposely dropped it a star due to what I said above. If Miss Esther would drop the voice and just ACT everything would be fine. You can be cutsey and speak softly without that 'gross' overexaggerating childish tone. Leave it to the age-appropriate actors! Gosh! I do NOT see how it's attractive at this point anymore. It gives creepy now. Yuck!
Sorry, if I upset you fans of hers.

Engrossed in this angsty tale of free will vs. fate
I found out about this mini series through reddit. A user highly recommended "Fortune Writer" because of its storyline. What I liked:
1. Writing - I must say that this is one well-written mini dramas. I was engrossed and as each episode unravelled, I was surprised by the unpredictable nature of this story. Episode 6 is my favourite episode - what a plot twist!
2. Daisy Li's acting - This is my first watching her work and I was captivated by her performance. She was able to convey different emotions from vengeful and wrath to sympathy and kindness.
3. Su Yun Qi characterisation - It's rare to see a complex female lead that is wonderfully written. Some of her actions baffled me but it's hard for me to hate her. I understand why she took those actions.
4. Jin Jiu - She's an awesome sidekick! Love her for being fierce yet compassionate.
What I disliked:
1. Fortune writer ending - [Spoiler ahead] Since LuoLuo and Lu Huai knew about the existence of fortune writer, I wish they rallied behind Yun Qi and together all three fought against their predetermined "fate". Let fortune writer suffer the unruly / unpredictable behaviours that were outside of fortune writer's control.
2. Ye Sheng Jia's acting - Lu Huai was always frowning so maybe I should blame the director or writer. Anyway I feel like Ye Sheng Jia could have done better in expressing conflicted emotions.
Favourite scene
From the auction until the heartbreaking conversation between Yun Qi and LuoLuo

AMAZING series. Script, costumes, photography, incredible actors. It's worth watching. They put this note because there are people who don't accept actors playing adult roles. If you don't like this type of series, there are other options for you to watch.

Excitement Builds: A Promising Start to GMMTV's 2024 Lineup
I had been looking forward to this series after watching all the trailers from GMMTV's 2024 lineup. It stars First and Khaotung, who have demonstrated incredible chemistry and acting skills in their previous collaborations. What really stands out is the captivating and unique plot centered around a killer theme, setting it apart from the typical love stories GMMTV is known for. After watching the first episode, I knew my wait had been worthwhile. The drama is infused with P'Jo's unique style, evident in the music selection, scene coloring, and even the intimate moments of the chracters. While the pacing of the first episode is quite fast, introducing all the main characters effectively, it keeps the audience engaged.
I have always admired First and Khaotung for their ability to distinctly portray their characters. Their deep understanding and interpretation of their roles, combined with their physical transformations, are truly commendable. Their performances make the story more convincing.
Joong and Dunk's performances in this drama have noticeably improved, and their roles are refreshingly different from those in their previous works.
I really can't wait for the second episode!

Where it all started
This was the very first Chinese BL… scratch that, very first Asian BL… that I ever watched. It was suggested to me after I accepted the fact that I was gay, so this drama is loaded with bittersweet nostalgia for me.This show seamlessly alternates between being slice-of-life and melodrama. Though Gu Hai’s abusive behavior is very off putting and in poor taste, the narrative and acting manage to make Bai Luoyin and Gu Hai charismatic and interesting anti-heroes throughout their individual characters’ developments. Added to that, the setting was so normal compared to other dramas, set in an average neighborhood with the colors all muted like in a high quality home video. It helps create an intimacy with the audience that blurs the line between escapism and realism. The opening and closing theme songs were both melancholic and phenomenal, the former being gentle and the latter being the sort of mournful that heals. The actors seem to be having a lot of fun working together, and they exude carefree humor throughout the performance.
