pure fluff
this was pure fluffy through and through, and I was smiling the entire time. I really loved the first half of the series, when they were getting to know each other and especially before their dating starts. I loved that our heartwarming our leads were, but they were also funny and spunky in their own ways. It made the eventual romance all the worth it.flat points... it definitely felt dragged out by the time the leads got together and there was an unnecessary drama point that thankfully did not last long. I always enjoy stories before leads get together, so I think the second half could've been condensed better.
overall, a very lighthearted and warm watch, perfect for the spring!

the ultimate slowburn...
This was Yi Fan's story, first and foremost. She's such a captivating character. I think that you have to like her and root for her to truly enjoy this. She's quiet, and she takes a while to open up. But I love that over time she learns to stand up for herself and open up. And I loved watching the show just to see that side of her.So it makes sense that the romance is a super slow burn. It takes time for Yi Fan to open up, but Sang Yan is the most selfless and enduring character. Maybe that's unrealistic, but I don't mind that much. They did a perfect job drawing the line and learning to become friends again before anything romantic happened. I think that watching just 1 or 2 episodes a day really helped in enjoying the character progression.
And while I loved the romance, I do think that the story pacing could've been better. Some episodes and plot lines were dragged out, while the Hong Kong plot felt rushed. And it did feel like only Yi Fan was really fleshed out, I would've loved to see Sang Yan outside of his relationship. All that is to say that I loved the characters. This is a character-driven story, so for all the slowburn yearning lovers out there, this is for us!

a great start for 2025!
Love Scout isn't special in its tropes; plenty of other dramas have done workplace romances or childhood connection or single-parent romance before. But what is special about this drama is that it does all these tropes right. I love the switched up roles in that our female lead is the CEO and her male lead the secretary. I love that there isn't unnecessary drama about the past when it is brought up. And I love mature leads! Where there is unrequited love, there is proper resolution and communication as well. It feels like the writer watched all the previous romantic dramas that we have watched and took notes to correct all the ways they went wrong! One nitpick: I wish they would've fleshed out everyone besides Kang Ji-hyun more. Everyone besides her felt too perfect and mundane to the story. And the first half is stronger before the leads get together, but that's most dramas. Otherwise, if you're in the mood for a workplace romance done right, this is well worth the watch!

wtf?
Liked: unique concept, actingDisliked: writing, wtf ending?
Throughout this show, I just was so frustrated. The original plot line of the show is unique and I imagine that's why other viewers started the show as well. I think they just wasn't sure of the genre of this show and tried doing too many things at once. I felt compelled to finish the series after the first half -- they developed the intrigue of the family mystery and main leads' relationship quite nicely, but I think that fell off in the second half. The second lead's story investigating the missing orphans was interesting, and I wish they had done more to develop their relationship.
They were halfway there with the writing. Such a shame of an interesting plot at the beginning.
Beware of episode 11 and 12! The show just shoved unnecessary plot lines that don't make sense by the end.

Overall an enjoyable watch!
The characters are truly the heart of the show. I loved how each character brings a different take to medicine--lead Baek Kang Hyeok is a risk taker while Yang Jae won is a do-gooder and tends to follow the rules. They're all a little crazy but always want to do good in the end. This show doesn't take itself too seriously. It is dramatic at times, but there is a lot of humor hanging over. Humor was done very well, starting with the ridiculous nicknames of Anus and Gangster. It just rolls off easily. When it is serious, there is a comical and rushed tone to it, so it's never serious for long. This is both a good and bad thing. It fits very well with the overall humorous tone, but the main issue of the show is the pacing. There are too many plot lines in the story. This would've benefitted better if the season was at least 12 episodes and each episode was closer to the hour mark than its 40-minute run time currently. The resulting story felt a little too easy and the conflict points felt rushed.
Visually though? The show looks amazing. The budget is there. And there might be plans for season 2 and beyond in the future? Some things I hope to see in the future: background for Baek Kang Hyeok and the others, surely he isn't as perfect as we see. Overall, I felt this was an enjoyable and easy watch.

my new favorite relationship!
ahh! I love this series so much. They did a very good job building up the leads' relationship as well as the overall friendship aspect too. I love that even though this is set in high school and a coming of age story, the leads were very mature and there were no stupid misunderstandings. I think the magic here really is their friendship. You get to see more of how much they rely on one another and how they are best friends first before becoming a couple. The bubbly girl - stoic guy trope is done very well and I did not find any of them annoying at all.
Plus you get comedy and humor with the friendship group and the second leads too! Everyone is just very likeable and looks after one another. Really the epitome of youth, in a very healthy way.
I wish they would've showed more of the leads' relationship in college and beyond as well as the second leads too. And there are some annoying family drama, but well worth the watch regardless. But nonetheless, I'm very happy with what we got!
