Shin Shi Ah gets a reality check on struggles of resident life in 'Resident Playbook'

Shin Shi Ah dreams of becoming the most fashionable doctor at Yulje Hospital in Resident Playbook.

Hospital Playlist spinoff, Resident Playbook, is a drama about doctors working at Yulje Hospital, depicting the growth of residents who dream of becoming wise doctors as they navigate their struggles. 

In the K-drama, Shin Shi Ah takes on the role of OB-GYN resident Pyo Nam Kyung. She is a rookie who dons full makeup and stylish outfits even on her commute, walking through the hospital lobby as if it were her runway. Dreaming of becoming a doctor who confidently strides through the hospital with her doctor's coat billowing behind her, she applies to the OB-GYN department at Yulje Hospital's Jongno branch and becomes a first-year resident.

However, instead of the glamorous doctor life she had envisioned, reality hits hard. She spends her days glued to the resident room desk, engrossed in charting, or rushing around the ward with a dressing kit in hand. Frequent patient calls and scoldings from professors leave her on the verge of tears daily. Viewers are left wondering whether Pyo Nam Kyung will ever get to live out her dream as a doctor.

The stills capture various facets of Pyo Nam Kyung, the charting machine of the OB-GYN department at Yulje Hospital. Her scrub, worn under her white coat, is stained with all sorts of marks, and her neatly tied hair becomes disheveled as she immerses herself in the hospital work. Yet, the moment her shift ends, she transforms glamorously, ensuring she maintains her signature flair, raising anticipation for Pyo Nam Kyung's vibrant hospital life.

Resident Playbook is set to premiere on April 12. The K-drama will be available to stream on Netflix.
