Park Hyung Sik, Huh Joon Ho, Lee Hae Young, and Hong Hwa Yeon share their thoughts on 'Buried Hearts
Recently, a behind-the-scenes video of the production of SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama Buried Hearts was released.
Buried Hearts follows the revenge battle of Seo Dong Joo (Park Hyung Sik) — who hacked 2 trillion won of political slush funds — against the absolute evil who tried to kill him.
In the newly released video, the lead actors — Park Hyung Sik, Huh Joon Ho, Lee Hae Young, and Hong Hwa Yeon — shared their thoughts on the drama, their respective characters, and the dedication of both the cast and crew in striving for a high-quality production.
Park Hyung Sik described Buried Hearts as "a drama that entertainingly portrays how intense, cruel, and despicable people can become, driven by greed and ambition." He went on to explain his character, Seo Dong Joo, saying, "Because he has a lot of greed, that greed leads to anger, pushing him toward revenge. He is a character with many different charms."
Park Hyung Sik also shared his efforts in bringing Seo Dong Joo to life, stating, "I tried to highlight each character's emotions and narrative as best as I could, with a particular emphasis on psychological battles."
Huh Joon Ho, who will stand in fierce opposition to Park Hyung Sik in the drama, described his character, Yeom Jang Seon, as "a man who possesses power, wealth, everything, and someone who can destroy the world." He also said, "Yeom Jang Seon is so evil that I can't even sleep. This is the first time I haven't been able to love a character I play. I'm learning about a world I never knew existed, thinking, 'There really are people like this in the world.'"
The actors also spoke about the warm and friendly atmosphere on set.
Huh Joon Ho shared, "I am heading to the set with the feeling that, as the eldest, I must make sure to adjust so that my juniors can film as comfortably as possible."
Lee Hae Young added, "The drama is full of tension and intensity, but during breaks, the atmosphere is really great."
Hong Hwa Yeon admitted, "I was nervous at first because there were a lot of senior actors, but they treated me so well and were incredibly kind, which helped me relax. The staff members are also full of energy. So, I went to the set with a happy heart."
Buried Hearts will premiere on February 21. The K-drama is reported to stream on Disney+. Watch the video here.
