New Chinese historical drama Les Belles has confirmed its premiere date for February 13.
The C-drama is adapted from Yi Ren Kui Kui's novel of the same Chinese name and tells the story of Luo Ling Yu, a fallen noblewoman who sets out for Jianye with her younger sister to seek refuge. She works hard to establish her business and stand on her own feet.
Luo Ling Yu, whose parents have passed away, and family has fallen into decline, seeks to escape a life of dependence. She sets out with her young sister to seek refuge with their relatives, the Lu family, in Jianye. However, along the way, she unexpectedly becomes embroiled in a misunderstanding with the Lu family's third son, Lu Yun.
When they meet again, Luo Ling Yu begins to see Lu Yun in a different light for his elegance and talent. However, Lu Yun mistakenly believes her to be a selfish and indifferent woman seeking to climb the social ladder. Meanwhile, a "refugee incident" erupts, intensifying the conflict between the aristocratic and commoner factions in the imperial court.
To promote equality between the aristocracy and the commoners, Lu Yun begins an investigation. While assisting him, Luo Ling Yu realizes that a woman should not stake her fate on marriage or a man. Instead, she must strive to realize the value of her life. Then, Luo Ling Yu goes on to establish her own flower shop and build a business. Along the way, she helps Lu Yun navigate numerous crises, ultimately clearing up his misunderstanding of her. Through her independence, resilience, righteousness, and courage, she earns both his admiration and respect.
Jelly Lin plays the lead role of Luo Ling Yu, and Alen Fang plays Lu Yun. Les Belles also stars Charles Lin, Zhao Qing, Guo Jia Nan, and Jerome Deng, among others.
Les Belles premiers on February 13, and will be streaming on WeTV. Watch the teaser here.
